The ‘SCS Conference on Stereochemistry’, better known as ‘Bürgenstock Conference’, is an outstanding international chemistry meeting of high scientific quality, with an optimal setting for intense inter-disciplinary discussion.
From 1965 to 2008, the venue of the conference was the Bürgenstock-Resort above the lake of Lucerne in Switzerland. Since 2009, the meetings have moved to another beautiful location on the shores of Lake Lucerne: the Seehotel Waldstätterhof Brunnen.
Stereochemistry is the principle underlying our understanding of the processes of life and the properties of matter at the molecular level. It is a key element not only in all chemical disciplines, but also in modern molecular biology, molecular medicine, biophysics, and material design. Accordingly, the ‘Bürgenstock Conference’ has grown over the years into a multi-disciplinary conference where frontier science is being discussed. Lectures cover many areas of chemistry and relevant highlights from neighboring disciplines.
The 55th ‘Bürgenstock Conference’ will take place in Brunnen, April 26th - April 30th, 2020 at Seehotel Waldstätterhof Brunnen.
The conference starts on Sunday, April 26th, 20209 with registration between 16:00-18:00, followed by the dinner and the opening lecture at 20:00
The Conference ends on Thursday, April 30th, 2020 after Lunch."
All participants, including invited lecturers and moderators, are expected to stay for the whole duration of the Conference

According to its long tradition, the 55th Bürgenstock Conference 2020 will again be interdisciplinary, covering many areas of chemistry in its main body, but allowing also for relevant highlights from neighboring disciplines, with due focus on structural and mechanistic aspects in all contributions.
The program consists of 13 plenary lectures (60 minutes), each followed by a discussion session of 30 minutes. Thus, there will be ample time for each topic to be presented fully and examined from different angles and perspectives. Lectures and discussions are held in the mornings and the evenings. The afternoons are free for recreation, informal discussions, and poster sessions.
Special package arrangements including all costs for accommodation, meals, taxes, and services for the whole duration of the Conference are negotiated each year with the Hotels.
Conference participants will be housed either at the Seehotel Waldstätterhof Brunnen or the City Hotel Brunnen
A limited number of less expensive arrangements are also negotiated; they are primarily reserved for participants in the JSP Program and Conference Assistants.
